I know for a while, we were without new music, or really music at all. BUT FEAR NOT. This week we added FIVE songs, including this one!
Nada Surf - Looking Through
NEW Nada Surf? What? Well, think about this: Nada Surf formed in 1992… #iwasntbornyet
BUT I can still dig this jam. Which I do. Really hard.
Hideaway - Karen O and the Kids
Yes. Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs did the soundtrack for the Where the Wild Things Are movie (legitimately one of my favorite movies of all time). This song is absolutely fantastic. The lyrics are pure poetry and the melody is so soothing and lovely. I cry every time this scene plays. True story. Don’t judge me too harshly.
Hideaway, well they’ll seat us in the sun,
By the way, know you’ve always been the oneIt’s beautiful. I love it. Watch the movie if you haven’t. At the very least, take a listen and appreciate Karen’s vocals.
Have an awesome night everyone,
-KK
This soundtrack is flawless.
Sunday Soundtrack: Andrew Bird - Anonanimal
There is nothing about this song that isn’t engaging and addictive. The plucked strings, the scattered sounds of drums and guitar, the mournful violin and lazy vocals, even the whistling. It comes together as though someone has taken the most intrinsic pieces of a sunny day wandering about a city and packed them all neatly together in a single stream of hauntingly familiar sounds. And of course, it’s hardly a surprise that that someone is Andrew Bird.
I usually write my own descriptions of things, but accurate times a million.
Down by the Water (live) - The Decemberists
The Decemberists will never not be good. And they’ll probably never not be on VIC.
