    Delayed…

Hey everyone! I apologize for the delay in posting this, but we’re fast approaching the end of our time on VIC for the 2011-2012 year! I don’t know about you, but I thought it was an amazing time. SO, let’s go through some cool stuff!

    • 50 Hour went AMAZINGLY. Zach and Collin were fantastic and there was only one breakdown… Adam. And, to be fair, it was about the lack of breakdowns.
    • We raised over $3,000 for the Ithaca Health Alliance, making this the sixth most successful 50 Hour Marathon ever!
    • We had a really successful benefit concert and made some friends in Erik Caron Connection, Dirty Bird, Underwater Tiger and The Black Tie Affair. (Almost all of whom we interviewed!)
    • Our new executive staff was, briefly, in full swing! So things will be up and running come Fall!
    • This past weekend was our last weekend for specialty shows and they were all fantastic! Including the best new music show there’s ever been, if I do say so myself.
    • TONS of band want to get in touch with us, so next Fall is already looking like it’ll be off to a hot start!
    • This week is the last week of programmed VIC Radio and Senior Sign-Off will start at 4pm Friday!

Don’t be sad, though. This blog’ll still be up and running throughout the summer, so if you have fun indie music facts, want to read about some cool new jamz or just want to chat, come check it out alllllll summer!

If you weren’t having enough fun with our new music yet, HERE’S SOME MORE. Oh yes, even more.

I present to you, one of my favorites from this week, The Jezabels with Endless Summer.

I’d give you some fun facts, but all you really need to know is that this sounds good, we added it, they’re Australian. That is TWO Australian groups we’ve added this week — name me another station that’s done THAT for you! I thought so.

    Anyway,

come to Radio Rush Night on Thursday in Park Auditorium at 7pm and you’ll be able to tell your friends that YOU brought two cool new Australian bands into their lives. And you’ll officially be the coolest you can be.

I know for a while, we were without new music, or really music at all. BUT FEAR NOT. This week we added FIVE songs, including this one!

    Nada Surf - Looking Through

NEW Nada Surf? What? Well, think about this: Nada Surf formed in 1992… #iwasntbornyet

BUT I can still dig this jam. Which I do. Really hard.

Guess what’s been back for four and a half hours now?

VIC! Streaming right now and forevermore right here!

And, to make it even better, we’ve even got new music for you. I’d bet after a month of NOT hearing any awesome jamz, you’ll be really glad to hear some of what we have in store for you this week.

Liiiiiiiiiike, this song right here: This Is What I Said by Cloud Control

    Fun facts:

    • They’re Australian.
    • They’re Australian.
    • They’re Australian.
    • The four members met at a rehearsal for a production of Pirates of Penzance.
    • They supported Foo Fighters on tour in Queensland.
    • They’ve actually been nominated for (though they lost…) a bunch of awards for two of the singles on their debut album!

Also, they sound pretty damn good.

Stay tuned for more things that sound pretty damn good this week!

Local Natives | Who Knows Who Cares | A Take Away Show

We should all appreciate Local Natives more than we do right now. In my personal opinion. What bands do you think we should appreciate more? I’ll post them!

Please please please submit a band that you think we should appreciate more. Don’t keep them to your little hipster selves; they’ll still be cool if you share them! I mean, they’ll still be cool for like two weeks. but hey, that’s two whole weeks!

Orrrrr… find a band that you appreciate by listening to VIC more!

So, I searched high and low for a non-live recording of this song by our artist of the week, but when you google “Timber!” in Ithaca and google knows where you live, you get a lot of logging businesses… So! Here’s the best I could do!

THIS WEEK’S ARTIST OF THE WEEK: “Timber!” with their song, LIVE, 1000 Little Pieces.

It sounds fucking rad live, too.

Here’s our VIC Radio Artist of the Week - Foster the People with their song “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls)!

Foster the People, who are a three-piece indie pop band from California, are making their way up the mainstream charts - and we here at VIC are proud to say that we played them before they were on the mainstream radar!

Tune into the New Music Show this Friday from 4 to 6 PM ET with B. Burns to hear their new album “Torches” in its entirety! As always, you can tune in at www.vicradio.org!
